Is 2Nd Gen Back Panel Interchangeable With 3Rd Gen Ipod Touch 2Nd Generation

Hello, I have a 32 GB 2nd Gen Touch and the insides are basically shot. However, there is engraving on the back panel that I would like to save. Will the 2nd. Gen back panel fit on a 3rd. Gen. I thought since I have to replace all the internal components I might as well update them as much as possible. Would like to use a 64 GB 3rd. Gen if possible. Thank you.

I don’t know off hand, but i would look at the measurements of both panels, and see if they are the same. Even so, do this repair at your own risk.
