Sadly, Apple killed off Target Display Mode ;-{ Use your iMac as a display with target display modeThe Ins And Outs Of Your IMac’s Target Display ModeTarget Display Mode Remains Absent from 2017 iMac Update What you can do is run remote desktop (via network) but then you don’t get the control directly on your Mac studio, you are just reaching across from your iMac to it, and you won’t get the full benefit of the display either. I’ve been also looking at this beast to replace my 2013 Mac Pro which currently has two 27” Thunderbolt displays connected to it. I will probably try to reuse my displays (at least they are Thunderbolt) and then upgrade to the newer Studio displays (maybe hold out till the Pro Studio displays show up (rumored) which will have mini LED backlight and/or the next gen XDR Display. Need to do the same checking on compatibility.
