This guide says that I need to remove almost everything from the inside of my laptop and only then proceed to remove the battery. But why? I feel like unless your hand coordination is bad, there should be no possibility for the adhesive solvent to get out of battery compartment and damage something. Are there any other risks or can I cut down the process from 70+ steps down to ~15-20?

If you’ve done a few you can leave the logic board in, it can be done! But if this is your first time … I would strongly recommend taking the logic board out first! The rub here is you will need to do some heavy pressure to unglue the battery and in the process you could hurt your logic board. It’s better safe than sorry!

How did you guys make out with this. I removed everything per the guide on my 2012 15” and once I was done I sort of thought, “why did I need to remove ALL of this????” and I’m about to do this on my 2015 15” Retina. thinking I’d be just as happy to take a long time and just work carefully to remove the battery itself. I can be patient. What’s the minimal amount I need to remove? it looks like the speakers would be the primary thing and the trackpad connector.
