If the fusion drive is replaced with an SSD, based on the architecture similarities, it looks like the iMac 27” could fit the dual fan system from the iMac Pro. Would this be possible? Has anyone tried it? Would it improve performance, especially on the i9 processor configuration?
Other than the looks from the outside the internals are very different between the iMac and the iMac Pro. There is no means to physically fit either the fan’s or the SSD’s between the series. I agree. The high end iMac configs need more cooling. I’m currently checking to see if the new iMac announced today has the iMac Pro fans as you suggest. There should be room with the Fusion Drive now gone. Too bad. The high end iMac needs better cooling to run quiet.
