MacBook recently stopped working. took it to apple store and they said there is an issue with the logic board. is the hard drive removal to keep the info on this computer like messages? can I pop the hard drive onto another a1398 Mac and see the messages and stuff? Update (04/14/2022) will I get the messages as well? if I pop the hard drive into another a1398 will it perform the same as the original one that died? in terms of having the same message conversations etc? considering this situation what would be the easiest way to migrate that data onto a working Mac I have but also to maintain the data on the working Mac? (like creating a new user account and migrating the data onto a new user account using migration assitant)
Yes its possible,If you heard any “Horror stories about OWC” Don’t worry I got like 7 products from them still workingAlso, i think you mean SSD instead of “Hard drive"Part: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/MAU3...Guide: MacBook Pro 15” Retina Display Late 2013 SSD Replacement
Yes, it’s possible. You’ll need some tools: a p5 screwdriver and a torx t5 screwdriver. The p5 screwdriver will be used to remove the screws from off the back of the computer and the t5 will be used to remove the hard drive from its holder. You’ll need to purchase this device to read the data from the hard drive on another mac Update (04/14/2022) If you put the drive in the same model computer, it will boot up to your user account with your user data, yes. You should not need to reinstall the operating system or do any kind of migration assistant.
