I bought a MBP 15” 2015 with a defect. The screen works fine, only the LCD won’t power on. I want to test the screen and LCD by hooking it up to my 13” MBP 2015. Is it possible or will I fry components on my board? :) I couldn’t find anything on the internet regarding this topic. Thanks!
@thymo - When you say it’s not powering on in what way? Are you able to see any image? Use a flashlight shining through the Apple logo in the lid do you see an image? If you do then your issue is the backlight logic on the man logic board not the display. If you don’t see any image then you’ll need to connect your system to an external display to see if the image is present on it, do you? There really isn’t any need to test your display by swapping it out with your systems. Moving them around puts the part at risk on getting damaged. And frankly, it won’t offer any useful diagnostics (thats if the screen is not damaged). Let us know what you discover with the tests I outlined. Once we know we can look at what you’ll need to do to fix it.
