We have diagnosed a not-turning-on Macbook Air (2015 13 inch) problem to be an issue with the trackpad ribbon cable. My question is, would it be safe for the rest of the computer to put it back together and use it with a USB mouse and keyboard while we wait for the new ribbon cable to arrive? Or, might that overheat some other component? I would be leaving the ribbon cable uncoupled/detached from its ports and replacing the battery over top of it. I ask because it will be several days until the part arrives and we have other commitments (workwise) before it does.

I’m not sure if it is going to work, but it certainly isn’t going to harm anything.
