So my temperatures and fans are still going crazy after cleaning everything and replacing the thermo paste. Temperatures reach 100°C and fans run at 5700 RPM. This usually happens when either watching videos online (I’ve been using Safari for a while now) and sometimes when I use adobe programs (which I think can be normal when having more than one open). It also reaches max while using twitter/facebook and other social media websites. After googling a bit it seems like either my heat sink or/and fans are broken. Now I’m wondering if it’s worth it to invest and replace these on my 2012 Macbook Pro? Everything else seems to be working fine and technically I can keep using it while it’s overheating, it’s just annoying and probably not good overall.
With the limited data we have here, I would say I would replace the heat sink. As I can’t see the sinks fins air temp I’m not sure if you might have something software wise that needs addressing.
