I’ve got an iphone 6, cracked the screen a few times and have repaired it myself successfully enough to know my way around the phone. Dropped today, face first, from about waist level onto concrete and the whole screen is shattered. There was a thin vertical line on the right hand side of the screen after the drop. Immediately did a hard reset (power and home button for a few seconds) but nothing happened afterward. Will not turn on and is not recognized by itunes. I get home, open the thing up, hoping that one of the cables has become disconnected. I unplug and reseat all the cables. Still nothing. Now my question: If it’s only the screen/digitizer that is destroyed, would the phone still be recognizable to itunes? For instance, in a healthy phone, if you took the screen completely off and plugged it into itunes, would it be recognizable? I back up photos on Dropbox and was in the process of backing up hundreds from a recent trip. I worry that they’re gone forever. Any thoughts?
Yes, the phone should still be detected via iTunes with a broken screen. Looks like the phone is not turning on due to an issue with probably the logic board. It could be that the battery is just flat and needs charge though.
