I have two old macbooks (a1278 and 1342) lying around, both are pretty much in shambles but they have complementing working components. The a1342 has the best case but the a1278 logic board has a better processor and a sd card slot which I want te dremel into the white case. My question is the following: Since almost every component seems to be compatible between the two, could I essentially build the a1278 internals into a a1342 topcase?
There’s more to it than just swapping logic boards. The ports as you have noted are different and are not in the same locations. In addition the display and keyboard connections are not compatible.
