I want to upgrade my laptop, but the word ‘“External” is in the title of the SSD kit that is sold on this site. It defeats the purpose of the laptop if I have to carry around a portable drive as well. Since there is no other information about it, has anyone bought this kit and does it actually go in the laptop or is it just external?
Are you speaking about the USB 3.0 External Drive Enclosure listed here? MacBook and MacBook Pro (Non-Retina) SSD Upgrade Kit If you are the case is intended to hold your original HDD so you can transfer your stuff to the new SSD drive. The new SSD is placed in your system, if you don’t use the case you have no means to transfer your stuff over.
