Chosen Solution

Was going to replace the ps4 thermal paste because it is a couple years old and was beginning to have overheating issues. However when opened I see this. It looks nothing like the guides and was wondering if this is bad?

The thermal paste looked dry, the board shows signs of heat, you might consider an after market fan , if it fires up and runs it is ok, I would run a newer fan if I was you.

What’s going on Xsinnombre _38..I want to address more serious issue first which is the overheating. So.. to keep it simple.. your fan is getting load because it’s trying to compensate for how hot your console is getting. This is not good. A overheating system must be dealt with ASAP to avoid what we call the BLUE LIGHT OF DEATH (BLOD) This is when your ps4 continuously pulses blue, and will never switch to that white solid light we all know and love. Most likely your Day One ps4 needs a good dust cleaning and fresh thermal paste on the APU chip. I believe i have some videos on my Facebook page regarding this issue https://www.facebook.com/Spitfiyacustomz. I also offer a repair service if you’re interested. https://www.ebay.com/itm/193709602985
