My macbook pro 2017 with touch bar shut downs automatically and saw a smoke coming out (not a lot) on the charger port while charging. 3 months ago I spilled coffee but just a little not a lot of coffee on the keybord. Until last night it completely shut down. Is that the cause right? or is there another cause? Thanks for answering
Coffee and what else you put into it will fester! Over time the acids and sugars will corrode and rot your components. What likely happened is the corrosion shorted out a component which is what you saw the smoke. Without doing a detailed inspection its hard to say what got damaged and if your logic board is repairable or if you need a new logic board.
