My laptop is very slow to open So i always put on hibernate. it’s make little faster to reopen laptop. So is there have any problem if laptop has been put on hibernate For a Long Time??
What Hibernate actually does is write everything in your RAM into a file on your hard drive, then when you open the computer back up, it quickly writes the file back into ram. On a normal start up of Windows, everything is reloaded from scratch, which is why it takes so long. As @jayeff says, there is a slight amount constant power consumed when in hibernate. When the laptop is off very minimal power is used. You will noticed this more on battery than when plugged into the wall. The only problem is you may get an error message when starting up Windows if the power completely drains from the battery and it is not plugged in when on hibernate, but ultimately no permanent harm is done. Although there is no harm by using hibernate long term, I do agree with @jayeff that the long start ups should be investigated. If you have a 5400RPM hard drive, that would be a cause.
