Hey, my Macbook Pro ( 2015) doesn’t work without plugging in the charger. As soon as the cable is pulled out, it dies and on on connecting the charger again the laptop restarts with date set to January 1st. I have gone through numerous posts here and I know my battery is old and has done a lot of cycles (720) but still it has around 83% capacity and is fully charged (screenshot attached) but from what I see is that people either have a battery problem or a logic board problem, so before buying a new battery I just wanted some confirmation if indeed this might be a battery problem. Thanks for any help!

This is a classic case of damaged battery power MOSFET’s. Think how a stairway light switch works you turn it on at the top walk down and turn it off when you get to the bottom (3way switch). Here we have two sets of MOSFET’s which controls the power to feed from the MagSafe charger to the battery as well as the logic board. But when you disconnect the battery the MOSFET’s that allow the battery to be the power source alone are not allowing it so the clock looses its power. So you do need to get your logic board fixed! But why did it fail? You likely have a knockoff charger or the MagSafe power cord is damaged.
