History note: My mid-2015 15” Retina Macbook Pro started displaying these very thin horizontal lines from the top to the bottom and, while annoying in certain lighting, contrast and application circumstances, the ‘thatch’-like pattern did not cause much problem. The laptop is now displaying waves of colors across the screen - either vertically down the center or horizontally throughout the whole screen - along with a periodic lack of refresh. A YouTube video demonstrating this issue is located here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qh0I2_Wj… Has anyone seen something like this and, if they have, is this repairable through reseating the display cable onto the motherboard or do I need to purchase a new display (or, for that matter, a new laptop)? I ask because I’d rather someone who’s experienced this before can prevent me from ripping into the guts if I am going to need a new laptop anyway. Thank you in advance!
It looks like a display or display cable issue. Send it to Rossmann Repair Group in NYC. The owner Louis has a channel an youtube you can check out. Repairing it through him would be significantly cheaper than a new machine, which I advise to avoid the new ones because they’re PLAGUED with issues, most of which can’t be repaired by specialists like Louis.
