I recently bought a Samsung dryer (DVE45N5300V/A3) to go with my Samsung washer. Upon arrival I discovered that dryers don’t come with power cords. When I first discovered the lack of a cord, I panicked figuring . Eventually, my landlord brought over and installed a donor three prong cord, which he had to modify as it was discovered that the dryer used a four prong cord, and the outlet only takes three prong cords. The washer was tested afterward and shown to run. But after I started learning about the different cords, I immediately unplug the dryer and haven’t used it since.

So my question is, would using the three prong donor cord be dangerous? If so what would be a safer alternative.

You should check your local electrical codes to see if its allowed before altering things. Here’s the wiring of the socket differences
