I was attemtping to remove the iSight cable out of a 2011 MacBook Pro 17 to remove my broken LCD, but accidentially snapped off the connector from the logic board all together. Not sure if they have parts available that could be soldered back, or the difficulty involved. Trying to determine if it’s worth it just to swap in a new logic board, if the cable functions expand past only operating the iSight camera.

@shakedown your image was a little dark so I brightened it up and it looks like you have torn off the solder pads as well as the traces.

You can get the connector but you will have to rebuild the pads and traces which requires some good tools and excellent skills. you may want to consider seeing if @tcrs_circuit or @reecee can give you some better advice on the repair. Going by the schematic, all that is on this particular connector is the camera.

Thanks @oldturkey03 . @shakedown , You tore all the pads for the connector. Can it be repaired? Yes. Does it complicate it? Yes absolutly as now you will have to run jumper wires about the size of the human hair to each of the pins on the connector as well as for ground. You will need a microscope and a microsoldering iron for sure. EDIT: No need to swap the board. This can be fixed. And no, this connector doesnt serve anything other than the webcam so if you don’t use it, do not worry about it.
