Hi i have a Hitachi LE55A6R9A and my tv has done the same thing as others. It has a dark picture and sound. How do i pin point what to repair without wasting money?
@treydigs you said it has a dark picture, does that mean you can see things when you shine a flashlight angled against the screen in a darkened room. In that case, it is possible that you have a. bad power board, b. bad LED inverter or C. failed LED backlights (common issue on this series). You would at least need a multimeter to check the power board as well as an LED backlight tester. Remove the back of your TV (unplugged of course) and take a good look at all the boards. Check for obviously damaged components like domed or leaking capacitors etc. Post some images of your boards with your question. That will allow us to see what you see. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that. If you find yourself needing the LED strips, those can be purchased separately from places like this. Great video about the repair can be found on here. So with the purchase of an LED backlight tester and replacement strips you are looking at around $100USD. Cheaper than a new TV and it’ll keep yours out of the landfill. If the tester determines it is not your LED strips then you can get a complete set of replacement boards for your TV for about the same price. Your tester will be most crucial to make the determination. I have no affiliation to the seller of the parts listed in my answer.
