The cord lights up when I plug it in but when I plug it into the laptop the light goes off on the cord and no lights come on on the laptop

Turn off the computer and remove the power cord.

Remove two screws holding a panel on back in place.

Next to the memory card you will see a switch which you need to turn to the OFF position

Reboot your computer

Once the operating system boots correctly…

Turn off the computer and remove the power cord.

Remove two screws holding a panel on the back cover.

Next to the memory card you will see a switch which you need to turn to the ON position

Reboot your computer

The error has been cleared and your system should work properly.
