Chosen Solution
Got a November 2007 2.2GHz A1181 which appears to run but with issues. I can’t access the store in iTunes, each time I try it tells me that an unknown error (-2) has occurred. Then iTunes hangs with the colour wheel. Can’t force quit either. The only thing is to force shut down with the power button. Tried to open safari and I get the colour wheel again. I had a couple of false starts linking to my wireless hub but now seems ok. Could all of this be down to the airport card??
@danj came up with the goodies on this question. Following his direction I updated the OS as far is it would go, up to Lion 10.7.5 This resolved all my problems, thanks to you Dan
