So a while back my French Door Bottom Double Door Freezer stopped cooling. I have been using a Haier mini fridge while trying to figure out what’s going on. Fridge has been unplugged for several weeks now. I have ordered and finally got a new starter relay and overload and have installed it. From my observation:

  1. Compressor is running
  2. Evaporator fan is running and I can feel semi cold air.
  3. Condenser fan is running
  4. Coils are not being obstructed
  5. The control board does not have any indicator LEDs but does have a diagnostic button. Pressing it twice before replacing the relay gave a 22 22 code. After replacing it still shows the code. When I looked it up that code was supposed to be a bad starter relay so not sure about this.
  6. The fridge is kinda loud, but the covers are off so that might be the cause. The compressor isn’t kicking on and off but staying on. Might be because of it being off for so long? That’s about all the info I have other than the model: 795.72493.611. I really don’t want to get rid of the fridge as it came with this house, new homeowner as of last June, and getting a new fridge means going with something cheaper. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Hi, If the compressor is continually running it means that the freezer, the refrigerator or all compartments aren’t reaching the set temperature and the compressor is operating so that the evap fan can drag the air across the freezing cold evap unit ( 0 deg F) to distribute it into the freezer and refrigerator compartments to cool them down to the required temps What is the actual temperature in the freezer compartment? How cold is the evaporator unit getting (inside the freezer compartment behind a panel - access through the front through the door)? Be careful if you go to touch it as it should be icy cold to the touch and your fingers may literally stick to it. If the evap unit is not that cold then there is a problem with the sealed system. The sealed system comprises the compressor, evaporator, condenser, filter dryer and associated piping. It may be a lack of refrigerant (check for oily residues on the condenser coils or on or under the compressor) a blockage in the system or worst case a faulty compressor. Depending on your location, due to the environmental regulations regarding the handling of refrigerant gases, you may need a licensed refrigerator repairer to check the sealed system’s high/low pressures to see what and where the problem is in the system, Check if the compressor is made by LG. There have been cooling problems with LG linear compressors in Kenmore Elite refrigerators but I don’t know if your model was affected or not

It’s an LG, in actuality:https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-sett…
