My Kenmore Elite side by side ice maker worked perfect until we left for about 4 months. Since then the ice maker tray will stop in a tilt which drips water to the already made ice. It makes ice fine but I can’t use the door dispenser since it’s a big frozen mess. If you’ve experienced, any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Hi, I’m not familiar with then model and can’t find a service manual but have found this in a manual for a refrigerator with a very close model number to yours, that may help. It shows how to test the ice maker’s harvesting action where it dumps the ice and restores to fill again. If it doesn’t do this then looking at the parts for your model, it appears that the ice maker is a complete module so if it is internal to the module the whole unit would need to be replaced. Here’s the start of the ice maker troubleshooting section from the manual that may also help. Perhaps you should defrost the ice build up around the door dispenser first before trying to find out what’s wrong. Sorry that I can’t be of more help.
