I have a Kenmore series 500 (model W10240534 ) washer. For the 2 months, it has began to stop automatically progressing to the spin cycle. When I set the dial to regular or heavy load, it begins normally, lid locks and it senses, fills and washes. It will rinse and drain, but sometimes it will sit on spin (green light indicates spin), the lid is not locked and it will not do anything until we cancel it, manually move the dial to drain/spin and push start. At this point, it will then spin (sometimes after performing Morse code on the buttons to get it to do something. Sometimes there is 1/2” of water in the bottom, sometimes 4”, sometimes no water. 50% of the time, it will run the cycle from start to finish correctly. At the advice of this forum, I have replaced the lid lock. The lid lock is operational. Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem could be? Model W10240534

Hi, If your model is a W10240534 I found this link where the answer was that it was a washing machine shift actuator problem. There is very little to no information regarding this model number which is strange. If your model is actually a W10468340B then here’s a link to the diagnostic tech sheet for the washer. Be patient as it takes 30 seconds to get to the Download link after you’ve passed the I’m not a robot - Confirm download checks. This will guide you through the diagnostic steps and possible causes. Hopefully this is a start.
