Computer was working fine. Dicided to do a High Sierra Update. During update it asked to restart computer. I clicked restart. When it booted up, the password was asked. I put in password it acts like it is trying to open then it shuts down and give the kernel panic message. It restarts and repeat… Any help would be great.

Hi, i’m not thrilled with updates as they usually mean problems. I think the options are :

  1. get an external hard drive or usb drive that has a 10.13 installer on it and run the whole thing again.
  2. as above but try with a 10.12 installer - I think the older OS is better.
  3. startup from an external hard drive and extract all your data, wipe the HD and reinstall 10.12 The last one would be my preferred option. I have a policy that I tell to all my clients " If it aint broke - don’t fix it" as upgrades invariably bring problems. Also an update loads the system so keep the computer cool by running a fan near it. Hope that helps some, Martin
