Chosen Solution
So two nights ago my keyboard and trackpad suddenly stopped functioning. I cannot seem to figure out what the problem is. I’ve searched around for a solution, or someone with similar problems, but most of the keyboard problems were for older models. Everything else works fine, nothing wrong with the monitor, the backlight still functions, the power button functions, USB ports and speakers work fine. I am currently using external keyboard and mouse. The system monitor says that there is no internal keyboard or trackpad hardware. So my questions are: What do you guys think is wrong with the keyboard/trackpad? What are the steps to check if there was liquid damage? (I used lysol wipes last week to clean my keyboard and where the wrists rest, so that may be why? iduno) and if there is damage, Is it cheaper to just replace the needed parts myself? or Does apple charge for labor along with parts?
Seems like your topcase is loose or damaged Water goes in from touchpad cracks and ruins the electronics under it or if you lucky ribbon cables and connections are just loose But might have to replace topcase with touchpad Keyboard is detachable ;)
Check with your local Apple store, they do charge labor, but the parts are cheaper than here.
