Generally, the different Model ID’ed systems don’t share the same parts so in your case 12" MacBook (Early 2016) - MacBook9,1 and 12" MacBook (Mid 2017) - MacBook10,1 are only a minor change within the logic board between them. Even still the cost of the replacement logic if your system is still working may not be worth the cost....

Depending on the age of the laptop the underside of the mother board may have a button cell battery which should Reset the password furthermore your jumper points are also probably on the other side. Chosen Solution I changed the screen a couple months ago, I replaced the non magnetic screw with a normal magnetic screw. I just noticed that the compass doesn’t work at all. It’s just frozen in one spot when trying to calibrate. I didn’t realize it for a few months, so I just removed the magnetized screw. Compass still does not work. I’ve reset the phone and erased data etc. Still nothing....
