I just tried with 6S screws on the iPhone 6 and they went right thru and could be screwed indefinitely without tightening. Chosen Solution So this 6s plus is just dead. Had water damage, removed all shorts, board started smoking, shorted vccmain to ground, fixed that. Vccmain on diode mode says 803, no short. But ppgpu and ppcpu show a very low reading like 008 or even 003. Is this thing beyond fixing? Vccmain is normal, I had to take the audio codec off since it was shorted. Would that prevented it from being recognized by iTunes?...

I opened the Activity Monitor and discovered the system’s kernel_task using essentially all of the machine’s CPU resources. When I try it says anauthorized soft ware was installed, Make sure you have the setting “Install applications from unknown sources” turned off. Samsung disables many security features when that setting is turned on. On the S8/S8+ this can be found in settings > lock screen and security > install unknown apps | then turn everything to not allowed....

Order a screen attached to a frame. They’re a little more expensive but it makes the repair go much easier. You’re going to need to replace the back glass while you’re at it because that back is coming off in pieces....

I can’t be sure, but it looks like the vertical stripes start just above a black area below them; on the right there appear to be horizontal black stripes. I’d be curious to see what it looks like on a white screen if that’s possible....

Chosen Solution I too have this issue on a mid 2012 unibody MBP. It was running a Samsung SSD, flawlessly for years (purchased 2016), then it crashed one day last week and wouldn’t start. I got the folder with a ? in it and went through an internet recovery, whereupon, after downloading the OS, the machine restarted to the prohibitory symbol. I installed a brand new Samsung SSD, formatted it to journaled in disk utility and then downloaded the OS again, assuming the 8 year old previous SSD (which I had used in previous iterations of MBP) had developed a fault....
